The time has finally come where I can make a proper Behind The Scenes blogpost for a video for the first time since starting these little blogs! SORRY BOUT THAT! EPISODE 9 WILL COME OUT I SWEAR!!!!! But for now, we must talk about the EVOLUTION of Flying By Wire, as last Thursday saw the release of FLYING BY WIRE - MACHINIMA EVOLVED!
Obviously I'm very excited for the release of Campaign Evolved (THIS MONTH!), and had wanted to do some sort of video related to it since it was first officially announced last October but couldn't really get the parts together in my head and was focusing a lot more on Episode 9. But after seeing the new trailers at June's Xbox Showcase I was like "OK GOTTA DO THIS NOW!" and wrote something up super quick. BUT FOR NOW, LET'S GET INTO THE WHOLE BEHIND THE SCENES STUFF! I really like doing these because I hope they can help whoever is out there that also wants to get into making Machinima (or anything for that matter), so it's nice to just kind of put my process out there and hope there's SOMETHING to learn from it! I'm copying the format I did when I did Episode 8's BTS, (which is my own format so is it REALLY copying? Mull that over while I keep typing). GRAPHIC DESIGN OK OK I'm already kind of breaking my own format by starting with something different, but I did want to touch on something ELSE that evolved for Flying By Wire over the course of making this video, which was our logo! I knew I needed a new flashy logo for the whole "Machinima Evolved" reveal in the video, and originally I was going to try and play off our old logo, but as I was trying things out I kind of had the realization that I kind DIDN'T LIKE the Flying By Wire logo anymore, OOPS!
The idea for the original logo was to be some sort of like holographic map of a planet that had points of interest marked on it, which I think gets across for the most part - and in Episode 6 of Flying By Wire I actually pretty much use the logo as that very thing! While I think it does that FINE enough, I'm not sure how many people would get that from just looking at the logo. In Episode 6, it's pretty explicitly shown through movement what it is but as a still image, it doesn't really make sense?
And while Flying By Wire has it's fair share of computers and AI, I don't know how relevant the logo is to the series or the name of the show. I wanted a Y2Kish look for the logo, and that's kind of where the general shape of the logo came from, and the color scheme was honestly a bit of an accident while messing with settings in photoshop. So, with the new logo my idea was to push those further and try and make it a lot more clear what was being looked at. The sphere was updated to a rounder wire frame planet, with little action stars kind of taking the place of the points of interest in the original. I tried a LOT of different versions of this, originally, it ended up being just the planet.
Tried a lot of different colors, shadows, outlines, etc but for whatever reason every time I tried something it just felt like it was missing something, or just a bit generic. Eventually I decided to add a spaceship to play into the name Flying By Wire, which is an aviation term, and then that finally made things start to click. Shoutout to my girlfriend Kristina for helping me bounce ideas around to figure out what needed to change!
I wanted to keep the original's green/white color scheme at first, but when trying it out it just felt again like something wasn't right or it was just too cluttered, which led to just going for the flat white/black (depending on background) look that we ended up with. Super happy with it now, and the spaceship is actually just taken from a drawing I did for a comic idea I've been developing. I always LOVE to reference other junk I'm working on or have made in things, and this video includes a lot of that! A lot of the stuff I was using was pretty low quality at first cause I was just trying to figure out how the logo should look, so once I decided on the final version, I went through a nd cleaned everything up by hand to make sure it looked CRISP!
Remember this blog is about a video??? oh yeah!!! SO THE PART THIS HAS TO DO WITH SAID VIDEO - I then made 2 variations of the new logo for the big reveals in this video, I was kind of going off Halo's logo for Campaign Evolved which is relatively simple, just the normal Halo font for the title, and then "Campaign Evolved" underneath that. So I did a similar thing, using the brand new Flying By Wire font for the upper titles, and then I actually used a font named Industry that is used in Halo Infinite's menus for the subtitle fonts. Plopped some of the elements from the new logo in the middle to make it inarguably Flying By Wire, and there we go! I really love how they came out and honestly have a hard time choosing if I like the normal logo or this one more. I DID actually make some versions of these logos going off the original Flying By Wire logo, but they were nowhere near as good and I'm GLAD I changed them! They're down below and really were just kind of text over the little circle from the OG logo. I flipped it on the Episode Excelled one just to have some variation, and made it pink for Emily.
I did all this work using a website named Photopea, which is basically a free in browser version of Photoshop. I cancelled my photoshop subscription a bit ago because I was paying WAY TOO MUCH to just have Photoshop and Premiere through Creative Cloud and I HATE ADOBE!!! That website works wonders and if you're looking for a free alternative I highly recommend it! I also used it for the little quick photos of HaloBox during his worm tangent! No AI was used here (or ever in my stuff) so if you think AI will be better than paying for Photoshop JUST USE THE WEBSITE IT'S EASY AND FREE!!!!!!
OK GRAPHIC DESIGN TALK OVER LET'S TALK ABOUT THE VIDEO WRITING Unlike the writing process for the main episodes of the series which can be very difficult for me and goes through a million drafts, these side videos are usually written in one sitting and come out in a way I'm pretty happy with. A lot easier to write when I don't have to worry about developing a plot and setting up what comes next, turns out! I watched through the trailers for Campaign Evolved a couple times and already have seen MANY HOURS of gaming showcases so it was easy to just write out the idea for a very botched remake of the first Episode of our show.
Easy pick to do a "remake" of since just like Campaign Evolved it's the start of our story, and it's the most viewed video on our channel to this day! While the video is overall a parody of Campaign Evolved, a lot of the specific jokes about what the Flying By Wire remake are more so just about gritty reboots and overdramatic AAA games. I already had who I wanted to be replacing each character in my head as I was writing, so doing their little interview segments was just as quick without me having to figure out who would be talking. I wrote the whole thing and then IMMEDIATELY after sent it to everyone who I put in the video and asked if they'd be down for it. And luckily, they all said yes! This was a rare video that had a sort of "deadline" to it, since I wanted to get it out before Campaign Evolved releases later this month. I knew the hype was building up for the game so I wanted to still have a bit of a gap between this video and the release date of the game, since when it comes out everyone will just be playing that instead of watching YouTube! Me included! I'd be playing instead of editing! MACHINIMATING Unlike the newer episodes of Flying By Wire, going back to Episode 1 meant I could pretty much do all of the body acting myself for this video. There were a few scenes I needed to employ help from some friends, which really was only due to not owning all the armor I was putting characters in on both of my accounts. That is probably the biggest downside to machinimating in Infinite, but luckily there are those just as crazy as me out there who have bought too much armor in game who can recreate most looks I've subjected characters to having.
I was kind of filming in chunks, first I filmed all of the "showcase" parts, where I was talking to the camera. I originally had built out a set to resemble the set they had for the 2026 Xbox Showcase. I built it out VERY quickly using the map HaloBoxStudios uses for his purgatory videos (where I once was trapped). It was passable for what I needed, but honestly it REALLY wasn't pretty or anything like that. For the most part, it was kind of still just kind of a dark empty void with some pillars and monitors, which is KIND OF what Xbox had for their set. I had also tried shooting it similarly, with me standing in the center of the frame. This was all fine, but once I started to shoot the rest of the video and the actual remake portions of the video, they just looked SO much better than what the video started on that I was like "ok gotta redo this!!!!"
I probably could've gone with the original vision if I was better at forge or if I reached out to a forger for help, but since I was kind of on a deadline I just opted to move to a different map and reshOot in a way that was more visually appealing than trying to nail the exact way the showcase was filmed. I used the map Gamma Station, cause I figured the many screens on the map could help sell the "games showcase" vibe, and the lighting is great on that map. When it came to filming the remake portions, I shot a lot of it the same way I did the original episode, just body acting by myself and shooting one side at a time. Of course, I had to update everyone's looks for the remake just like Campaign Evolved, so I got the Mark IV treatment Chief is getting in the new prequel missions, and Synergy got the classic Mark V look. Something I think is funny is that both Yelloh and Synergy's looks are kind of now foreshadowing to future episodes as between Episode 1 and this video, we've both switched from Mark VII to the Mark IV core in Infinite, and worn the Mark V kit in Episode 3. Fun detail that I am almost 100% sure I'm the only one that would notice.
My process for filming machinima has changed a bunch since I made Episode 1 of Flying By Wire, because there was a TON of stuff I didn't know about machinimating when I started. Back then I would shoot the same way you would in older games like 3 or Reach, acting everything out in a custom game and then hopping into Theater mode and filming everything that way. I have completely switched off of doing that, and now instead shoot in real time using Machinima mode in custom games. The biggest con that comes with that though is not being able to have your camera zoomed in and move your character at the same time. This isn't an issue if I'm shooting a shot of a character someone else is controlling, but if it's my own character I can't do squat with the camera zoomed in!
A lot of the time, I'll just sign in on my 2nd account on my PC to get around this, which is why photos like the one a bit above exist where there are 2 of me in a lobby. I was a bit lazy though shooting a lot of this, and would use the old school theater mode method and just shoot everything zoomed in there. Zooming isn't anything I NEED to do, but it does look very nice and makes for some very good shots, and it especially was helpful in this video to get across the kind of ViDoc style of the interview segments. Theater Mode in Infinite is notoriously buggy, so it was a bit annoying to do, but I made it work! Since this video had a whole bunch of machinima makers from all over the Halo community, I also had to translate some Halo 3 looks into Infinite for Syp and B00mrang, and if you know anything about Infinite, they for some reason did NOT want to translate Halo 3 armors 1 to 1 into Infinite. I had thought about possibly just filming both their interview segments in Halo 3, but I ended up going this route because I felt it fit the whole "remake" vibe of the video more and also I just really didn't want to film in Halo 3 I'm BAD AT IT! Beyond that, there was really only like 3 scenes that I had to get help for, and those were pretty much only whenever you see 2 people on screen at the same time. The small portions of Yelloh and Synergy together, and then the end of the Episode Excelled segment where Commander Turonide makes an appearance.
That's not to say you need more people for multiple bodies in a scene, I just didn't have all the needed armor unlocked on both my accounts cause I may be a shill for Halo, but I'm not THAT big of a shill! The final scene with the real Excelled and Synergy was all me just using 2 accounts and then cleverly cutting between a separate custom game lobby where I had Remake Yelloh included. That's pretty much it for machinimating, but of course I SHOULD address the Keith in the room! At this point in Flying By Wire, I've done a lot of shooting with the Forgeable AI so I'm kind of used to how they work. I'm pretty sure I had at some point kind of explained how I did the Brutes in Episode 6, but I'll reiterate it quickly here cause I think that might've just been in a YouTube comment or something. Basically, I just throw down an AI spawn point and make sure to set the AI to be on Eagle team, and to not wander when idle. For this video, I would kind of go back and forth on whether or not I set Keith to be Blind and Deaf, it is sometimes helpful to have him follow someone walking by for a shot, especially to kind of get the effect that he was talking, like during his big monologue near the middle of this video.
The Brutes in Episode 6 were blind and deaf the whole time because I could just wait for them to speak to lip sync after, but since the Hunters don't speak (and don't have lips) I had to kind of get creative. I would just set the camera up where I wanted the shot and start recording for a while, trying to pick up any idle animations he'd do that I could then repurpose in editing to get the effect that he was speaking across. Keith in this video is also sporting Covenant blue instead of his original Banished Red, again just as a reference to Campaign Evolved. Speaking of his monologue scene, we got to fully realize the joke of his name being Keith in this video and include his late brother, David. The truth of that was just spawning 2 hunters and then killing one with a rocket launcher so that he was laying at Keith's feet. (Great actor, no hunters were truly harmed in the making of this video). I'd sometimes have to push the Hunter around by punching them to get them in the exact spot I wanted them to stand, which luckily when you're on the same team, doesn't actually hurt them so I didn't have to worry about accidentally killing any hunters. OH ALSO adding this after I wrote everything above, Excelled and Emily also got remake looks, and I just want to say I finally put the attachment on Excelled's helmet so he doesn't look like a bug and that was the main thing I wanted to do when putting together his remake look I will never understand his choice to just use the base helmet sorry Ethan
OK HOPEFULLY ALL OF THAT MADE SENSE if it didn't ask me questions I write these just stream of consciousness so I am NOT going back to double check that anything I wrote was understandable and I just wrote A LOT!!!!!!!! OK NEXT THING VOICE ACTING Wow, so this is what it's like to start a new segment.... it's been so long.... ANYWAYS!!! The voice acting segment of this blog should be nowhere near as long as the machinimating one so let's get it over with!!! Flying By Wire has always been a sort of makeshift production, whatever can make it work is what goes, so naturally there is a million different ways we get the voice acting done. Since for the most part, Flying By Wire is kind of a remote production, especially with this video since we have so many friends in it, everyone just records on their own microphones, whether that be something fancy like myself or Synergy with a Shure SM7B, or something like Woody, who plays Commander Turonide, just using his phone. As long as the line is recorded and can be sent to me, that's all I need!
For the most part, I just sent out the lines to our friends and gave them some vague direction if any, and let them record them and send them my way. That always works and usually there will be a bunch of takes and I can skim through and find the one that works best. I'm also very open to anybody changing lines or improvising in whatever way they want because I know my scripts can be a little all over the place sometimes, or know they can think of something funnier than I can. A good example of this is HaloBox's Vermiculturist tangent, none of which was in the script. No idea where he pulled all of that information from, but I thought it was very funny and just added it into the video. For Excelled and Synergy, played by the ever effervescent Kip and Ethan, we just do our lines in a discord call so they can have me direct them, and I'll just record off OBS. Since everyone has a different set up and different mics, I throw a Highpass filter over everyone's audio to try and kind of get it all sounding closer together, where without it I think it'd be a lot more obvious the differences in everyone's lines. Not to say it completely covers everything, particularly with Commander Turonide's lines in this video, but it's a good little blanket for now. It also has the added effect of giving that like, speaking through a helmet radio effect, which is what I originally used it for. At the start of Flying By Wire, I used to put the highpass filter at different levels for each character to try and get it to match more, but I've found now that just using a base 600 sounds close enough. For Jax's Emily lines in this video, there was a background clicking noise that I was able to get rid of easily just using the DeNoise filter in Premiere mixed with that highpass effect. I think there are some takes where it is still a LITTLE BIT audible, but when mixed with the music and sound effects you'd have no idea. B00mrang was nice enough to send his lines in 2 versions, one the regular raw version, and then one using the filter he uses for the helmet effect in his videos. I was going to use his filtered version at first, but it stood out among me using just the highpass effect on everyone else, so I ended up going with the raw version and applying that same effect. There's a lot of ways people do that effect and definitely ways to do it in a much more realized way like B00mrang's effect, but I am LAZY and haven't looked into that! Lastly a small story, when recording Synergy's lines for the video, Excelled joined and was playing League of Legends SO LOUDLY that I had to make him mute his mic so that I could keep recording Synergy's lines. And it wasn't like HE was talking or yelling or anything, he was just hitting his keyboard SO HARD that it was being picked up by his mic so loudly. That boy ain't right. SORRY NOT A LOT OF PICTURES THIS SEGMENT HOPE YOU'RE STILL READING JINGLE KEYS JINGLE KEYS JINGLE KEYS EDITING I think a lot of where this video came together was in the editing stage. There's a lot of visual gags, and just the overall structure of the video I kind of hammered out to make sense while editing. Starting right off the bat with the "World Premiere" graphic they use in the Xbox Showcases. I'm SUCH a big E3 fan and these game showcases, so this World Premiere soundbite has been drilled into my head. I THINK I used it as a follower notification at some point on twitch? Maybe? Maybe that was on the DarkTriforceFilms account DON'T REMEMBER!
I did not recreate the graphic myself in this I do NOT know how to do any sort of animation like this and I wouldn't even know where to start. I just downloaded the clip of the graphic and then tinted it yellow in Premiere, you know, cause it's a mellohyelloh announcement? So it's yellow? Get it? I'm sure you're nodding your head yes with a big smile right now reading this. Do not tell me if you're not, I'll be sad. The thing I had the hardest time with while editing this video was trying to make the flow of things feel natural. There is a lot of cutting to completely unrelated things between scenes which when I was starting to edit made the whole thing feel very disjointed. It doesn't help that every time I start editing a video I'm like "this SUCKS" until it matches exactly what I see in my head, so it took a bit for me to really start feeling the flow of the video. Above is a picture of the editing timeline for the video, not including all the sound effects that were done in a different sequence. There was a LOT of changing the timing between scenes or swapping in and out different songs as I tried to find what fit everything the best. I was also trying to do my best to make sure the "remake" footage looked different from normal Halo Infinite footage, trying to mimic the look of Campaign Evolved as much as I could when just using Infinite footage and premiere. To achieve the effect, I just threw an adjustment layer over any footage that was supposed to be from the remake and boosted the saturation and highlights. I was trying to get it to look very shiny and colorful, which were the main things I've been associating with Campaign Evolved in my head.
I also added a letterbox over all of the footage from the remake segments, including the interviews of each actor. I was going to cut them off the interviews at first since my showcase segments didn't have them, but it felt a lot more jarring when they were gone randomly in the middle versus just the showcase segments that bookended everything else. Having the letterbox over everything else though helped sell that ViDoc feel I think. One of my favorite little visual gags in the video is including the "Pre-Release Build" text at the bottom of all the remake segments. I didn't have it at first, but it felt like all the remake footage was missing something to really clarify it was supposed to be different footage than everything else. But a few lucky Halo creators got access to Campaign Evolved recently and when I was watching their videos I saw the pre-release text at the bottom of that footage and went "EUREKA!"
I also just think it's very funny to have "pre-release build" on the bottom of a machinima. I'm sure it'll look very different in the final build. For the most part, after getting all of the visual flair done, the rest of the editing process was pretty straight forward, just dragging and dropping clips and making sure the head bobs synced up. There were some segments I ended up cutting down or switching lines on to help pacing, like when B00mrang is introduced. The line in the script is a lot longer, but it made that section of the video just feel like it was dragging. I just rerecorded the line in a much more abridged way, and then had to painstakingly adjust the timing on the rest of like the entire video because I had edited pretty much every scene together at that point which was ANNOYING! In the picture of the timeline you can see how many layers I had to use for this video and it SUCKS having to scroll up and down and make sure I've selected everything when moving stuff around and I KNOW it's my fault but I can still complain. This is MY blog and I'll complain about my OWN CHOICES if I want to! After everything was in place, the only thing left to do was sound effects and music. Usually I'll do these at the same time, but a lot of the music I had already placed when putting together the assembly cut of this video because there was a lot I was trying to get timed to the music, and a LOT of switching songs in and out. Sounds can be tedious but for the most part are very easy to drop in. I have a whole host of sound effects downloaded at this point, but still had to do some digging to find some sounds for when Keith would move. I have a ton from Halo 5 that I THINK I got from HaloBoxStudios? And then recently I've been building up a library of Halo 3 sound effects that are very helpful for these videos. Sounds are something that I think aren't necessarily needed for machinimas, I didn't even really do any unless they were absolutely necessary or not in the footage until like our holiday special right before Episode 7, but since starting I have gotten VERY particular about them. I delete all the nat audio from any footage I'm using and then will drop in my own recordings of map ambience and then drop in movement sounds for any time we turn, any footsteps, gunshots, even warthog/razorback sounds like in Excelled's segment in this video. It can sometimes be a nightmare for me but I think it really elevates the video to feel a lot more cohesive. If you're looking for sound effects, I highly recommend The Sounds Resource, it's where I've been pulling pretty much all of my sounds from recently. They have a VERY extensive library of sounds from all sorts of video games, including some Halo games like Halo 3, which I've been taking a lot of advantage of. When looking through games they will have them all sorted into categories like voice lines, character sound effects, map sounds, etc, etc. Very helpful! The biggest thing I tend to get on my own is usually map ambience, which I'll do just by going onto a map in Infinite and turning off any music or voice lines and just sitting and recording. Basically the same as getting room tone if you were filming a live action project. The only other editing thing to really touch on for this video is Emily, which like always, I probably did completely differently than I have in the past. For the "remake" version of Emily I actually filmed in Infinite this time which DID make my life a lot easier since I could just record me doing her lines in real time and not have to guess and hope I was facing the right direction like I do in Reach. I just hopped onto a green screen map in Infinite and recorded it all quickly.
Then in premiere, I throw an ultra key effect on to get rid of the green, add a circular opacity mask and turn the feathering UP to get that kind of fade effect around her, and then duplicate that footage. On the layer underneath, I added a directional blur and CRANKED it all the way up and moved it to be horizontal, and then nested both those layers together. Once nested I would either change the layer style to something like Screen or Overlay depending on what the background was, and if neither of those worked I'd just turn her opacity a bit lower to get the hologram AI effect. DID ANY OF THAT MAKE SENSE Usually when she appears I would use the gradient overlay effect that Premiere refers to as "obsolete" (I still don't know why it does that), but in this video I experimented a bit with the VR Light Leak effect (I THINK? There was one named VR Light Leak and one named VR Light Rays and I kept mixing them up. One of them has some colors appear one is just white) which I think did a much better job at selling the AI appearing effect I wanted. I'll probably keep using it for her going forward. I used it a TON in this video, it's on like ALL the text that appears and the transition to the title card at the end of the video. HOPE YOU DIDN'T MIND SEEING IT A MILLION TIMES! Emily has a specific sound effect I use whenever she appears, and it's just some random "Sci-Fi sound effects" video I found on YouTube way back when I did Episode 2, I think. The same video includes the sound cue I use when the Flying By Wire logo appears at the end of our videos, I'm not sure I could find the exact video I used again so I am holding on VERY TIGHT to that file so I don't lose it. I'm sure I will NOT regret not taking better measures to preserve that!!! THUMBNAIL I once again recruited BB12 to make a beautiful thumbnail render for this video. USUALLY, I would really just get thumbnails made for main episodes rather than these side layover videos, but I knew this video NEEDED some beautiful art to really sell the remake vision. I messaged him and asked if he'd be able to do something kind of mimicking the very cool renders for Halo Campaign Evolved that were being released and sent him the lifelike above sketch so he could have an idea of what I was picturing. (and I want to clarify I CAN draw at least a little bit but I do these sketches VERY QUICKLY just to give reference to BB. And I'm playing a game to try and see how little detail I can add and still have him understand it.)
These were the ones I particularly had in mind, alongside the one I used WAYYY earlier in this blog of Chief holding an assault rifle. And BOY did BB deliver! I can't speak too much to his process because 1, I don't know what he does or how he does it, and 2, I don't know anything about Blender I can barely get it to open on my computer. NEXT TIME if I think ahead and be smart I'll ask BB to talk about it and include it here in this blog!
And now we have this beautiful art of the remade Flying By Wire crew even complete with our own bisexual lighting in the top right! I love it! BB is always making incredible stuff, and if you missed the news, even was just commissioned BY Halo Studios to make some art for Halo Fest!!! So you'll see some very cool stuff in December I'm sure! After BB sent this over, I just threw on the Machinima Evolved logo I had made to match the full look like in the above photo with Chief holding the magnum. Halo for the most part has been putting their logo right in the middle of the image, which is what I was going to do, but it made the middle feel a bit overcrowded considering our image had 2 other characters standing in the middle.
So I just threw it a bit lower which I think ultimately was the best decision. In the final splash card in the video that showed Episode: Excelled alongside the thumbnail art, I moved it up to the middle which worked there since it was really cropped to only show Yelloh. I thought about getting BB to do a thumbnail for Episode: Excelled as well to show alongside at the end, but honestly it just didn't feel worth it since it would only be seen cropped for a small amount of the video and wouldn't be the video thumbnail or anything.
Usually, I follow a very specific style for our thumbnails which is VERY easy to see when looking at the mellohyelloh channel. I put the little blue scribble border and handwrite the text for videos, but I really wanted this video to stand out when looking at the channel since it's such a big event! So I opted to just let the thumbnail speak for itself, and let BB's art take up the full frame and use the very cool logo I designed. Very happy with it! IN CONCLUSION And that about wraps up the behind the scenes for Machinima Evolved! I'm really happy with how it turned out and it was just a really fun time putting it all together. I've said it a bunch already, but very big thanks to
For all being down to be part of this silly video! This was the most other collaborators we've had in one video I think? At least the first main video that we've used the collaboration feature on YouTube for! Having everyone on board really made the video feel like a big event I think, which is exactly what I was hoping for. And of course thank you to the usual Flying By Wire crew, Kip, Ethan, Woody, and my brother Ulisses (who was IN FACT in The Naked Gun even if he didn't correct me when I wrote the movie was from 2026 instead of 2025) AND again to BB12 for the thumbnail.
Hope everyone enjoyed the video and are looking forward to the release of Campaign Evolved this month! I'm super excited for the game, despite my initial reaction to the rumors being "I'd rather they didn't"! I've been so won over by this game, I'm shocked by how excited I am. The Q&A last month was a bit disappointing but they won me back with this month's! INTERSTING that literally like 30 minutes after this video was posted Halo posts a blog revealing that Machinima Mode will be in Campaign Evolved... coincidence? Or perhaps did they see Machinima was evolving over on the mellohyelloh channel and realized they had to catch up? A case that never sat right with me... We'll certainly be taking advantage of machinima mode in Campaign Evolved and I'll be writing up some silly things for it probably later today! I know I keep saying I want to start streaming more over and over but I MEAN IT! And I'm sure I'll definitely be live on Twitch when Campaign Evolved drops, so keep an eye out for that, I'm sure I'll be yelling about it! Now to make a long blog even longer, I said I wanted to keep doing these little mellohyelloh spotlight segments so here are a few machinima videos I've enjoyed since the last time I said I enjoyed things! I love enjoying things! (ALSO a coincidence that last time I did this I asked if Halo Studios was even doing community spotlights anymore and then like RIGHT AFTER they posted a new one... are you HERE Halo Studios? Are you frequent readers of the mellohyelloh blog? Are you mellohyelloh-heads? Much to ponder...) MELLOHYELLOH SPOTLIGHTECHOES: A HALO MACHINIMA - OFFICIAL TRAILER by RISKIESTSOLE
This was a video that just randomly popped up in my recommended page on YouTube, and I was so impressed by the editing on this trailer! I haven't had the chance to sit down and watch ECHOES just yet, but this trailer did a great job getting me interested. It really looks like it's pushing Infinite's capabilities for machinima to the limit, and just looks so creative! I'll definitely be giving the full video a watch, it released a little bit recently and is 40 minutes long, so a lot of good stuff to watch! COUNTDOWN EPISODE 1: PILOT by MJ SPLIT-PLAY
A fun new Halo 3 Machinima pilot, another one that just happened to pop up in my YouTube recommended. It's a fun, fast paced watch that's firing off jokes left and right. They incorporate a lot of Halo 3 mods that allow for a lot of fun gags and moments, like opening up on the Pelican crashing into the arctic or the bomb defusal scene. I love all the art that's shown during the intro and that's used for the thumbnail, gives it a very unique feel! I think this is the channel's first machinima project and it's really good for a pilot! Excited to see how they progress! LITTLE FIXES EPISODE 1: OUTDATED FIRMWARE by CALLISTOPROJECT
Another new Infinite series starting up, Little Fixes is a short and sweet little look into Callisto's work day! I love the premise for the series so far, an engineer having to go around fixing various problems for the UNSC. It doesn't feel like any other series I've watched before and it's cool to see so many new ideas popping up in the machinima scene lately! I also LOVE the little title cards used in this, just a fun little thing and I'm a sucker for that sort of thing. Shoutout Dennis! CAMPAIGN EVOLVED HAS ME BRICKED UP... by VIRTUALBISON
VirtualBison puts together a great video that really captures both my feelings of excitement for Campaign Evolved (although I think I would probably phrase it a bit differently), and what it's like having friends who aren't as involved in Halo as you are. I've had to do a LOT of explaining of the Halo story over the years! Also just really really feel the ending, I am still DEVESTATED that I couldn't get a copy of the collector's edition PLEASE HALO STUDIOS IF YOU'RE HERE JUST RESTOCK THEM THEY WILL MAKE YOU MONEY HALO LARPERS by MAGPIELEON
Woah, remember when Magpie was just in the video I was talking about earlier!??? Now he's here with this little short about Halo Larpers! Just an incredible display of what most so called Halo "Fans" are like, especially online nowadays with the lead up to Campaign Evolved coming out. People online are STUPID! Enjoy the game and get these POSERS outta here! Also in both this video AND Machinima Evolved MagpieLeon says "this cave is not a natural formation"! Crazy! REWSPAWN OFF-TRACK: SAVE THE CAT by DUAL WIELD
Respawn is another machinima series with it's own unique premise, being it's a superhero show made in Halo Reach! This little side episode plays off a classic superhero trope that I personally love, saving a cat from a tree. So many little gags in this short, I love the Dap at the beginning, how Sir Bartholemew is just an actual cat edited in, and the flashbacks to the last cat. Love seeing more of the Respawn universe! Also shoutout Syp who is also in this video! OK OK OK I'VE SAID ENOUGH!!!! This is a nice little EXTRA long blog post for you all cause WHO KNOWS when I'll write the next one. HOPEFULLY I covered everything I wanted to cover, I cannot stress this enough but I do NOT proofread these I am just typing until I can't type no more. IF THERE'S ANYTHING I MISSED THAT YOU WANT TO KNOW JUST ASK ME!!!! You can leave comments down below here or just message me on discord or something IDK I'LL PROBABLY ANSWER EVENTUALLY! Maybe I'll do one of these on my Campaign Evolved thoughts after it drops later this month, that'll be LOTS OF FUN!!!! It's exciting to be entering a new era for Halo, so let's all get happy and hyped and ride it all the way to Halo Fest this December! EPISODE 9 SOON I SWEAR AND I ALSO SWEAR EPISODE 10 WILL NOT BE AS LONG AS A WAIT (I SURE HOPE AT LEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!) I HOPE EVERYONE HAD A GOOD PRIDE MONTH HAPPY JULY I GUESS!!!!! - YELLOH//LOGAN
