travelling through time

This week in DarkTriforceFilms, we turned on the ol' time machine to get something done. Officially starting off with our videos filmed this year, we just released Blast to The Past, which was a very last minute video on our part!
This video might have seen a little out of nowhere at least after the previous editions of the Report, and honestly it kind of was! Back in March, we partially filmed a couple videos when Woody was back in town, and the plan was originally to finish those up in April to release for May, but April ended up being the month of scheduling conflicts and illnesses which led to the time available to film and edit any sort of video being a very small window - which is also why there was no second video last month (hopefully we'll have 2 for May to make up for it!)
So, after weeks lost to covid and travelling plans, as the last week of the month rolled around I decided it'd be better to try and write up a shorter sketch, as even if we did get the videos from March done, there wouldn't be enough time to get them edited in a way I was actually satisfied with. So, based purely on the fact I had been growing a beard for most of April, my idea was to do something with "Future Logan" which is a joke we keep bringing back (although he is usually portrayed by my brother).
Picture
Most appearances of Future Logan have been from a pretty exciting future, but in order to have reason for showing up in the past in this video, the future had to suffer a terrible fate! I wrote the script for the video in about a day or so, and then sent it over to Austin and Kip who were the picks for the stars after we'd been playing lots of Phasmophobia recently. And surprisingly, that makes this the first video where the interns have starred as themselves together ever! Every other video they've been in, it's either been one of them as a different character (like Austin in A DarkTriforceFilms Christmas) or just as random background characters (like in Buddy Cops 3).
So on the last day of April, we gathered at Charles' house for a very chaotic filming session. The video ended up being around 3 minutes long, but there are some takes we filmed that are almost double that length, from various interruptions like Charles' dog barking, or sudden Maroon 5 sing-alongs breaking out, but it didn't matter too much because none of it was enough to stop us from finishing this video!
With Friday as a deadline, this video was down to the last minute, I finished editing and exported the video on Friday around 1:55 PM, and then uploaded it for 3:00 PM just to have a buffer between uploading and posting. There may or may not be another video relating to this one in the future, we'll see if we decide to follow up on our idea or not.
Now, you may be wondering why I didn't just finish editing on Thursday, it's one of my days off, surely I had time - but the reasoning is actually what I want to talk about next!
Picture
On Thursday travelling even FURTHER into the past to medieval times, we recorded our very first session of a new attempt at DarkTriforceDND! Any die hard fans might remember way back during our more active streaming days on twitch, we had started a DND Campaign under the same "DarkTriforceDND" title, but it quickly fizzled out due mostly to scheduling issues, and since then we've been talking about continuing that or trying something else - and recently I was inspired to do just that, and take a crack at DMing a campaign for the first time! For the show this time, I decided to do a prerecorded show instead of livestreaming, in order to edit it down into a more streamlined and presentable package, although I'm still figuring out exactly how what it's gonna look like in the end.
The graphics I have now are not final, but just what I've been using as placeholders, and I don't have an exact idea on when episodes will start dropping - ideally I'd like to get at least a few recorded before any are uploaded to avoid big gaps in case we have scheduling conflicts on our end. The first session went well and I'm excited to see where it goes and eventually how the show comes out! For anyone interested, the cast includes Myself (Logan Gonsalves) as the DM, Woody Hamilton as The Monkey (Lvl. 4 Barbarian), Charles Hufferd as Kuno Grey (Lvl. 4 Monk), Alex Clair as Carson Bohal (Lvl. 4 Bard), Carlota Gonsalves as Erendriel Yavie (Lvl. 4 Cleric), and Nola McCarthy as Vahagar Venom Tongue (Lvl. 4 Ranger)!
Picture
Hopefully I'll have more to say about this as we continue with our sessions and I start the editing process of the first episode. We recorded this over discord, since we have a couple of out of state players with Woody and Alex, so I did my best to format the process to be as enjoyable as possible over discord, so with the video I want to make sure it's more enjoyable and attention keeping than if I just hold on the gallery view of all our cameras for the whole time. That's the big part I'll have to figure out before I can really give anymore updates on this series. But I hope it works out, I enjoyed our first session a lot and would love to do more, hopefully even more campaigns in the future!
Picture
And that about wraps up this edition of The DarkTriforceReport! Looking forward to making more videos as we get into the summer, summertime always seems to be when we take our biggest swing at making videos, and I expect this summer to follow the same path. I'd love to get into some more diverse content this year, shows like DarkTriforceDND or other unscripted videos that aren't just vlogs. We've tossed around a couple of ideas for things to do, but the only way to begin is by beginning, so I'll sheath my sword and head out onto the open road. Go check out Blast to The Past if you haven't already, it's short and sweet! But until next time, this is Logan, signing off!

Take a seat, we should talk

This week in DarkTriforceFilms, we lost all our savings. That's right folks, we've officially finished with all the backlog videos from 2022! Yesterday The Intervention officially hit the internet, and after we had filmed that we had gone into production for BACON (which of course has all already came out last fall), so it's officially time for us to put our boots on and get to filming for the rest of the year. But that's all talk for future editions of The Report when we actually plan out what that'll look like! For now, let's talk all about The Intervention!
Picture
Based only on the first day, the response to The Intervention has been great! This was one of the videos where I've had multiple people reach out separately saying that they thought it was really good which is very nice to hear! There were a lot of wrenches thrown into this video, so I was worried on how it was going to turn out, and it's a big relief to see it turned out so good. The editing for this was really down to the last minute, I finished editing the day before it was supposed to be uploaded!
I had a lot of extra time between when Gag Reel #10 was uploaded and the release date of The Intervention thanks to March's plethora of Fridays, but going into the last 2 weeks I was finally got by Covid, which really halted my editing as I laid in bed all day - along with that there were a couple of last minute things I had to scrounge around like Woody asking Cameron "Are you afraid?" which we apparently never recorded and so Woody had to do on his phone a couple of days ago, or making sure I had all the footage of shaved Woody at the end which was filmed on Woody's phone and wasn't with the normal footage for the rest of the video.
Picture
If you remember the Report from last year after we initially filmed The Intervention, you might recall we had to do a lot of last minute shuffling of the script due to some scheduling issues - which is the reason the video starts out with a cast of Myself, Cameron, Kip, Alexis, and Woody, and then ends with just Myself, Cameron, Charles, and Woody. When we were filming I remember being worried of how that was going to translate once I started editing but it really doesn't feel too bad, Kip and Alexis both actually exit the video and don't disappear so it doesn't feel too jarring when they're not there at the end.
In the original script, Kip and I both attack Cameron and Charles and it plays out similarly with Charles getting "mustached" and Cameron being the last one left - but then Alexis returns and saves the day by ripping off Kip's mustache and so on and so forth, ultimately Cameron throws the shaving cream grenade and the video ends pretty much the same way. Since Kip and Alexis both couldn't make it to the second day of filming however, the rest of us just kind of abridged that portion of the script, dealing out the lines and actions to who was still there and it ended up how it did in the video, leaving really just the question of what happened to Kip and Alexis up in the air - cliffhanger! Although if you ask me I think the answer is that Kip went and found Alexis and "mustached" her starting the mustache invasion all over again.
Picture
There was also a scene we filmed that explained what happened when I pulled Kip out of the room and how I got "mustached" that was ultimately cut (the photo above is from it)! When I wrote the script I wrote 2 endings because I wasn't sure how or if we'd be able to do the "yassified Woody" ending (as Woody named it) and then because of that there were a couple of different endcard scenes written for the video as well, one where Woody wins and the endcard is the news of the new Mustache World, and one where the whole video was revealed as a commercial we were pitching to Gillette. I'm not sure why this of all videos ended up being our one full of alternate endings and trivia, but at least it gives me a lot to talk about here!
Anyway, the aforementioned deleted scene was going to be the official endcard and is what we filmed it for (it wasn't in the script at all), but as I was editing it felt weird to jump back into the middle of the video for the endcard so I changed that to the silly little edit that is there now, and decided to cut the scene altogether because it messed with the pacing in the middle and ruined the reveal of Woody using me as a pawn. If people are interested, I might cut that scene together and release it here on the website or as a bonus video or somethin!
Picture
Editing wise, this video came together pretty quickly, we filmed pretty much in order and only 2 days of filming made it a lot easier to find what I needed compared to editing for The New Logan which was all over the place. I also found that getting music for this video was a lot easier than The New Logan because with that I was trying to find a very specific vibe with the background music, something subtle that didn't outweigh the comedic scenes it was behind and it was a lot harder than I was expecting (although mostly because I am very picky with music) - with The Intervention, a lot of the video is some sort of big fight scene, and getting something that sounds epic and like a big battle was a lot easier for me to find. And just giving the actual intervention part of the video room to breath without any background music for it.
Weirdly enough, I think the things that took the longest were trying to find stock video for the exposition shot because we forgot to get one of Woody's house, and the silly edit during the endcard. After that it was trying to make sure the footage of shaved Woody looked good, I mentioned before we filmed it on his phone - that was because we used Snapchat to put a filter on his face and recorded it through that. I think it's very obvious it's not on our actual camera, but it isn't too jarring in the final edit.
Picture
And that about does it for all the little trivia and tidbits I have to say about The Intervention! I'm happy it's finally out, it's been a long time coming since I originally had the idea for the video (in between the idea and the script being finished I think Woody shaved and regrew his mustache) and for a while I didn't even know if we'd make it cause I had no idea where to go with the script!
Coming up in April, we should have a new DT Life from when Woody was here of us going through a sort of escape room - but of course there'll be more on that once it comes out. That'll be our side video for the month coming out on April 22nd! Now if you'll excuse me, I really gotta get to planning for the rest of the year now that the well has run dry - so until next time, this is Logan, signing off!

one friday for each letter

Picture
This week in DarkTriforceFilms, we lamented the how long March is. Did you know there were 5 Friday's this month? As a channel that uploads on Fridays, you'd think we'd be more aware of the amount of Friday's a month has and plan ahead but we are adamant about sticking to our schedule!
But before we talk about the rest of the Fridays, let's talk about last Friday when we uploaded Gag Reel #10!
Picture
Now, I'm aware this edition of The DarkTriforceReport is a bit late, but last week I was busy experiencing a live rendition of the Into The Spiderverse score - but yes, our second video of the month did release, and it was our 10th Gag Reel! That's some sort of milestone, right? This video included bloopers from Narrator, Time Capsule, and The New Logan - and while I did expect it to be a bit shorter due to Narrator and Time Capsule  both being shorter videos, there were also a lot less bloopers from The New Logan than I was expecting for a 10 minute video. Our last Gag Reel clocked in around 9ish minutes (I say confidently, without checking) and this one only was about 5!
But, this brings us back to the topic of March's plethora of Fridays - as we discussed in the last Report, our schedule has us uploading on the first and second friday's of each month, so 2 weeks with videos and 2 without, usually but March has 5! That's crazy! We have discussed getting a bonus video up this month for that last Friday of the month, but we aren't entirely sure what we'll be doing for it and don't have anything in the vault right now to use, so we'll see if anything does end up happening. That's the thing about a bonus video though, it's always a surprise!
To wrap up this shorter edition of the Report (which is what happens when you get a Report on a week we don't upload but the month has extra Fridays) we've got some more preview shots (seen above) for The Intervention, which comes out next month! Hopefully on April 7th! Editing is going smoothly for it and is honestly coming together a lot faster than I expected it to. The script itself if around the same length as a bigger video like The New Logan from this month, but we had to do a lot of rewriting and restructuring on the spot while filming (that and the script has like 2 alternate endings on it we didn't use) so I think it's gonna end up somewhere in the middle of that and shorter video like Time Capsule.
I'm very pleased with how a lot of the shots came out in this video, with the gap between filming and editing I didn't remember how the video looked, but each shot looks really cinematic and I'm surprised considering we were just using one light and then whatever natural light came into Woody's living room. But this was the first video we used our shoulder rig on so I'm sure we were pushing for more cinematic looking shots with it. And the process for April's second video has also started, with Cameron Kaercher again editing for the DT Life we filmed while Woody was in town, thanks again Cameron!
Picture
Well, that about does it for this edition of The DarkTriforceReport! As a reminder, go watch the newest Gag Reel to make up for me forgetting to post anything about it when it came out, if it interests you at all, Woody and Charles kiss more than twice in it! In the coming weeks I'm sure there'll be more to talk about as these video release and we get back into filming as our vault runs dry and the weather gets nicer - but until then, this is Logan, signing off!

DARK PARKING LOTS AND WET PANTS

Picture
This week in DarkTriforceFilms, Woody returned from Florida. That's right, it's Woody week, so DarkTriforceFilms has been getting as much done as they can during the short amount of time that Woody is in the same state as the rest of us! That includes filming 2 new videos that will be coming out later on this year - and to provide a bit more clarity on that, we have officially decided our 2023 schedule, with a whole graphic to boot! (the graphic is NOT a boot, just to be clear)
Picture
So here it is - 2 videos a month is our goal, one main video, a side video, and possibly a bonus video if we have something extra to put out! Last month saw Time Capsule and The Tymoso DT Life as February's videos, and now as we're going in to March, we've just released our week 1 video, The New Logan! That's right, the video that I've been writing about here since July (yeesh) is finally out now!
I already talked about the plot of the video in the last report, plus the video is out now on YouTube so go and give it a watch if you haven't already! It's a lot of fun and our first "long" sketch of the year, and I think it feels different than a lot of our other videos, of course attributed to the different writing styles of Charles and Woody who wrote it - but it still has the tone and vibe of the DarkTriforceFilms brand. And now that I can say it without spoiling anything, a big special thanks to Ashley Clemens for starring as the titular "New Logan" in this video! This was the first time we'd worked with her, but she also appeared in the first episode of Bacon (which was uploaded far before this) and she was great!
Following The New Logan as this month's side video will be Gag Reel #10, featuring bloopers from Narrator, Time Capsule, and of course The New Logan - it's crazy that we're getting into the double digits for Gag Reels now, but this one is a bit shorter than previous Gag Reels since we have 2 short videos starting it off. It'll be live next Friday, March 18th for all your blooper filled needs! And as we all say here at DarkTriforceFilms, "There's plenty more where that came from!" So let's get onto what else is upcoming and what did we work on during Woody Week?
Picture
For Woody week, we had 2 videos lined up to work on - special reveal, the titles of those videos are The Bag and Stick to The Status Quo - these videos will be coming out further down the line, as with our current schedule - we're booked at least until May with videos that will be coming out. The photo above is from Stick to The Status Quo, featuring a gag where we had to make it look like Woody had wet his pants - and Charles with his smart thinking suggested we use a spray bottle! Filming for this video went relatively smoothly, but we had to cut it short due to other plans that were scheduled, so to make sure we got what we needed, we finished up all of Woody's shots in the video and we'll be meeting up again at a later date to finish the rest of the video. Similarly, the other video we filmed, The Bag, had a very similar filming process, we just got together to film 1 scene, although this scene took place outside in an abandoned parking lot, and man was it cold. We were able to get it done, albeit a bit frostbitten, and despite the fact Woody was asleep when we met up to film.
Picture
Alongside the sketches we were filming, we also went out and had some real life experiences that we vlogged a bit for a future DT Life! We went out to a local "escape room" type place named 5Wits and we went through a Tomb themed room and a Space Themed room (but we really only got footage from the Tomb one) and that will most likely be coming out as a side video next month. We might be filming a few more in the coming days/weeks, so DT Life should be sticking around more often on the channel!
Picture
And so forward we go into 2023, the year is feeling productive and I'm happy to be uploading on a more regular basis now! While the videos from last summer have taken forever to get posted, it's nice to have them as a backlog to make sure we can upload consistently. There's one more video from the summer batch, The Intervention that'll be coming as next month's main video, and then we'll be getting into things filmed more recently. That's about all there is for this edition of the report, so go on your vacations around the world until the Gag Reel comes out! I gotta go warm up after standing in the cold and snow the past few days, so for now, this is Logan, signing off!

Picture
This week in DarkTriforceFilms, we planned ahead. Sticking with our goal of at least one video a month, editing on The New Logan was finished up this week so expect it to land next month! But before we touch too much on that, this month's second video was uploaded yesterday! DT Life returned by documenting a moment in history - the day that DarkTriforceFilms and Tymoso met face to face!
Picture
As I mentioned in last week's Report, this was edited by our own Cameron Kaercher! It's a nice short and sweet cut of what is probably the most important moment in YouTube history! It's nice to officially have DT Life back on the channel, we had recorded some footage here and there over the summer for it but none that really amounted to anything - but DT Life is technically one of the oldest running series on the channel, originally starting in 2014 I believe, so it's nice to keep it going. Up until now, DT Life has been very haphazard in the filming process and very spontaneous, but as we go forward we're trying to focus it more into specific ideas for each episode, hopefully we'll have some examples of what I mean by that in the future!
Also, to get into very specific graphic design stuff only I really care about, the previous few episodes of DT Life I had tried a specific branding for the show, using it's own logo and I tried switching up the editing style a bit, but after the main harddrive that I kept most if not all the DarkTriforceFilms stuff on died late this summer,  I lost the old graphics for DT Life - but I realized with all of our sketches and other videos, the text is in ALL CAPS, so for now I figured with DT Life being more laid back  vlog content, the thumbnails will use all lowercase. This as well as the font color and stroke, where other content uses the same colors and backing as the logo, I'm just using a light yellow and gray for these. But back to more important stuff!
This March (the 3rd specifically) officially brings The New Logan to YouTube, which means soon I'll finally be able to stop bringing it up here in the Report! Enjoy some stills from the final cut, color corrected and with graphics edited in in some cases! Written by Charles Hufferd and Woody Hamilton and with some small revisions done by myself, The New Logan will find Woody and Charles finding a replacement for me after something mysterious happens!
This video is clocking in at almost 10 minutes exactly, making it our longest scripted sketch (not counting things like the Buddy Cops videos which are more short films), and I think besides Ripstik Randy is our longest sketch in general? This video was edited by yours truly, and I'm really happy with how it came out. Putting it all together I was worried it was gonna drag with how long it seemed to be getting, but after finishing everything up I think it flows very well. I'll have more to say about it when it's officially released though!
Picture
That's about all there is for this week, so I'll leave you with the thumbnail (as of right now) for The New Logan, subject to change cause I'm not actually sure how much I like it. I've been thinking of switching our thumbnail style as we go into 2023 - I've been trying to keep a certain style but switch it up every now and then to keep things fresh, before 2017 it was kind of no man's land with them but starting that year I had a style which stuck until it got kinda lost around the time Last Vlog On Earth started, and then in 2020 I switched to the style we're using now. We'll see though! I'll probably go back and update all the thumbnails from this year should I choose to change it.
Thanks for reading through another lackluster edition of The DarkTriforceReport! Remember to cut out the box tops coupons out from the top and donate them to help the local school! Until then, this is Logan, signing off!

ok, get on with it

Picture
This week in DarkTriforceFilms, we started 2023! After Bacon all wrapped up and we sorted through all the leftover bits of burnout, moves, and holiday seasons - we're finally back and finishing up the videos from the summer.
During our time off, we've started to rearrange the workflow and responsibilities behind the scenes - up until now, DarkTriforceFilms for the most part has been mostly run through me (Logan), I did all the editing, uploading, while writing and directing was a task shared for the most part with a Mr. Woody Hamilton. But as we try and upload more frequently and raise our bar of quality, it's become increasingly obvious that it's an impossible task for me to do on my own like before, and so you'll start seeing more of the crew's editing, writing, and other various jobs on the channel, all starting with Time Capsule here!
Picture
Time Capsule  just went live yesterday, and while not the first video he's had a hand in editing on the channel, it's the first sketch not edited by me! Woody was responsible for this one! The video follows Logan, Woody, and John digging up all of their past secrets that were buried long ago in their time capsule. And a special thanks to the illustrious Kristina Handy for her camera work and direction in the video as well!
With the new workflow, this year we're aiming to have at least one video a month - more specifically one of the classic DarkTriforceFilms comedy sketches per month, and whenever we can get to it, any bonus content like Gag Reels, DT Life's, or possibly some new unscripted content on the other weeks of the month. This month, the extra video will be the fabled DT Life where we meet the world famous TYMOSO!
Picture
Graciously edited by Cameron Kaercher, documenting the historic moment when DarkTriforceFilms and Tymoso officially met in person on the streets of New York City (greatest city in the world)! We don't have a set release date for this, most likely sometime in the middle of February. It's a very quick and concise view of our trip, but I think Cameron did a great job with everything he had, and it's one of my favorite DT Life's in a while! Hopefully each month we'll have some sort of extra video to hold you over, but while we're speaking of the upcoming months...
Should all go according to plan, The New Logan should finally come out next month, it's making it's way through premiere and all it's crashes, and frantic scrambles to find someone to film a cameo part. But either way, expect it this March! Following that, the extra video (or at least one of them) should be a new gag reel, I believe it'll be Gag Reel #10! So everything is all set for the next few videos, but we might be throwing some more extra content up as I said, more than anything we are just looking forward to uploading more this year. 2022 was the most we posted in a while, although a lot of it was just the Bacon series, so this year should be a bit more normal in terms of programming!
Finally, just a few things to catch up on with the agenda following the last edition of The DarkTriforceReport, the last 3 episodes of BACON were released and you can now watch the entire series! The series finale clocks in at a length the original Buddy Cops series would be of, coming in at around 35 minutes, with the entire series sitting around an hour and a half. Happy watching!
As we upload more, the DarkTriforceReport will most likely share a similar schedule unless we have exciting stuff to talk about that isn't related to something being uploaded - but The Report will continue either way! I'm excited to get out all the content we've had in the Vault and I'm even more excited to film any of the multitude of scripts we have waiting to become full videos. I'll have more to say about those and how the jobs and responsibilities behind the scenes are changing and who's doing what in the future, but until then - this is Logan, signing off!

And the rollout begins...

Picture
This week in DarkTriforceFilms, we're finally getting around to releasing those videos we've been talking about. That's right, we're finally dipping into the backlog of videos from the summer now that production has mostly wrapped up on BACON (other than a few edits here and there for the upcoming episodes). So as we get into the Fall, expect more content on the channel with the Bacon episodes and to start us off with your regularly scheduled DarkTriforceFilms content, NARRATOR has finally been uploaded to the channel!
It feels like it's been years that I've been talking about Narrator in these Reports, but it's nice to say that it's actually live and finished - and honestly I like it a lot more than I had expected. For those uninformed (somehow, I mention this a lot) Narrator was written in 2019 and we first attempted to film it earlier this year, I think like February-April? Somewhere in there. That version didn't end up how I wanted and I scrapped it after getting it all edited - you can watch that version now on the Website Extras page! So when we first sat on the bench to film this version of Narrator, I was a bit worried it was the premise and script itself I wasn't happy with - but I think the whole video came out great! Other than some out of focus shots, I think the entire video looks great and captures the like "end of an early 2000s movie" feel that I had in my head when I first wrote it.
Picture
For the thumbnail, I used the opening shot for the video because it's one of my favorite shots we've gotten I think it just looks really pretty! It's also the first shot I showed to tease the video I believe! I don't think I've ever spoken much about the Thumbnail style I've been using, but ever since I believe 2017, I've tried to keep our thumbnails in a consistent style so that when you look at all our videos listed, they look good together - in 2017 I would brighten up the image and use light tints of Yellow, White, and Gray in the original "DarkTriforceFilms font" which was ConcursoItalianoBTN if anybody wants to steal it. I changed our style in 2020 to match the new graphics that were made for the year, our updated logo using Century Gothic as the new font and so I will box all the images in white to match the white background our intro is on and originally the white background our channel art was on (which was changed at the beginning of this year). There are some exceptions to the thumbnail style, like with BACON - but I'll touch on that later!
Picture
But yes, if you haven't yet - go check out Narrator! The video was very fun to edit and it's nice to have a shorter sketch because we've noticed our tendency to write videos leaning towards the 7-9 minute mark, and having a short one in between those is nice both for our sake in time to edit and just an easier to digest watch for those who find our channel. And of course thanks to Woody Hamilton and our Number 2 Intern Kip Raymond for their help with this video, Kip does a great job and was the pick to star alongside me in this ever since I wrote it! I think my favorite tidbit I can say about Kip in this is that we had to rerecord his last line in the video because the original audio was so unintelligible from the wind that was blowing, but when I had Kip do a new take, we were standing in Cameron's house filming BACON, without any visuals for Kip to see - and so I told him how to say the line based on my memory of the clip, and Kip's read syncs up PERFECTLY with the footage despite not seeing it at all. He said it the exact same way without any form of reference besides my failing memory and it's honestly pretty impressive to me.
So please go watch Narrator, hit the like button, and leave a comment! (Do I sound like a YouTuber yet) but I think comments and likes do really help and I've been trying to get more comments on videos so go and do that THANKS!!!
Picture
Following Narrator this week, will be the Second Episode of BACON! Of course coming weekly, on 10/23 Part 2 of Bacon drops! Continue the ever exciting story of Chief Bahcon as he uncovers the mystery behind what Governor Brekvist has planned for Appleton! Seen above is Episode 2/Part 2's thumbnail, which is what I was referring to earlier when I said we've got some exceptions to our thumbnail style - we wanted Bacon to stand out and look unified as it's own series, especially when we'll have videos like Narrator that aren't connected to Bacon at all going up in between episodes. I didn't have the first episode's thumbnail finished for The Report last week so I'll pop that down below - but you can see the difference in style clearly, the Bacon thumbnails ditch the white border and fill the screen with the BACON text behind whoever is in the foreground, and I set the layer to one of the other options that I can't remember off the top of my head but it gives it that dark and transparent look. Along with that there's a film dust type look put over everything and some other little touches to pull it all together - I like the style a lot and I think it fits the series well!
Picture
So get ready for Episode 2 tomorrow and the rest of BACON on the following Sundays! To reiterate, that's Episode 3 on 10/30, Episode 4 on 11/6, and the finale, Episode 5 on 11/13! And if you haven't yet, please please please go check out Episode 1, it's live on the channel and is up here in various spots on the website! It's the start of this wonderful adventure for Chief Bahcon and you'll be lost if you try and start on one of the other parts! No skipping! For more information about Episode 1, go and check out the last edition of The Report!

Speaking of more content and updates that are coming soon, The DarkTriforcePodcast will hopefully be returning soon here on the website! We have an episode recorded from around the end of August that's currently being edited to serve as a "finale" to Season 2, featuring Myself, Woody Hamilton, and Charles Hufferd. The Podcast has been kind of flip flopping back and forth with what exactly we want to do with it, but I think we've definitely started to figure it out. Charles will be taking over as the producer for the show, and while we're still talking about what it'll consist of, I think the general theme of the podcast will be more focused on the behind the scenes and inner workings of DarkTriforceFilms rather than the kind of unfocused all over the place type of vibe it's had since it's beginning. Kind of a companion to The Reports, as the content they cover will most likely overlap. The Season 2 finale goes over some updates to fill in listeners between the last episode in 2020 and this one, and then goes over what got the 3 featured members into making videos! It was interesting and pretty fun to go over everyone's stories!
Along with our restructuring of The Podcast, the Podcast page here on the website has been updated into a blog type page like The Report for easier viewing, as well as organizational reasons - right now it's just the links to the YouTube videos, but I'm looking to add the audio file once again just to have it as a second option. And if you remember in the last episode, I said the Podcast would live exclusively here on The Website, and I think I'll hold true to that slightly, with the YouTube counterpart living on our second channel DarkTriforceExtras as well as being hosted here, and on it's various streaming services like Apple Podcasts and starting today it'll also be on Spotify!
Picture
Finally, just some organizational updates, for the next few weeks expect at least 1 upload a week with BACON, but as far as the normal DarkTriforceFilms videos go, it'll be a bit longer in between uploads for them as the videos following Narrator are definitely a bit longer and more involved as far as the editing process goes, so those will have a bigger gap - but you might see a DT Life or smaller videos like that sneak their way in in the mean time. So at least 1 video a week, maybe 2 as a little treat.
The DarkTriforceReport will hopefully be moving back to weekly updates here on the website now that our schedule isn't all over the place with the Bacon production, and will return to it's original update day on Saturdays! I think the past couple updates have been coming out on Mondays/Sundays, but to be clear Saturday will be when you're gettin a new one of these insane ramblings from me. That should be everything we need to update for today, again go and check out Narrator and Part 1 of Bacon (as well as Part 2 tomorrow!), leave a like and comment and hopefully stick around for the rest of the content we have coming!
But until that content does come, this is Logan, signing off!

This week in DarkTriforceFilms, it's finally time - BACON is here.  I know we'd been talking this up for the last half of summer in these reports, so it's nice to finally get to say "It's done! Go watch it!" So you know, go watch it!
As of right now, Episode 1 was posted last night, coinciding with our official premiere for the cast and crew where we watched the entire series edited together as one feature length experience (with many thanks to Mr. Woody Hamilton for all the work he put into this!) I'm super excited for the rest of the series to come out because I think each episode gets better and better. It's nice to be on the other side of everything, with all the work I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel a bit burnt out as Bacon took over all of our work going into the start of fall, and when you feel like that it's easy to just pick over every little thing that's wrong with what you're working on. But after getting to be with everyone and see everything stitched together, I'm over the moon proud and happy with what we made.
The editing process for Bacon was split up between myself, Cameron, and Woody and unlike other projects that we had edited between people like Buddy Cops 3, we had done this basically remote from each other with Woody's move to Florida. So other than some rough cuts to take notes on, the premiere was the first time we actually got to see the entirety of Bacon which was kind of a cool experience for me, to premiere this big project but also be going in just as blind as the other people in the crew who hadn't seen any of the footage yet. And of course I want to give such a huge thanks and say amazing job to both Woody and Cameron for their work on the series, Woody and I both had some crunch time getting things ready for the premiere and Cameron was great with getting anything done we asked him too whenever he had the chance. Bacon marks the first project on the DarkTriforceFilms channel Cameron has editing credits for which is exciting and I think a very fitting project for him to make his debut on.
Picture
Bacon also sees the premiere of Heath Canfield and Hunter Frederick in a DarkTriforceFilms project, I believe I talked about them a bit in the last edition of The Report, so I'll try not to be too repetitive but they both did such an amazing job at bringing the characters Woody and I wrote to life and I couldn't imagine anybody else playing Jules Bahcon or our Mysterious stranger. They both do an incredible job throughout the entire series and I think it's so great watching them play off the already established characters in our little universe.
And once again, a big thanks to all the various members of DarkTriforceFilms who came out to help, Charles played multiple roles throughout the series as well as helping out a ton with the behind the scenes work, whether that was running sound, pitching ideas for shots, or making a lot of the props that we use throughout the series (which will be more evident in the following episodes, there's one in Episode 2 that I still think is so funny, and got a good laugh at the premiere!)
Alexis was there at almost every shoot, and was so helpful at picking up whatever job needed to be done, when we needed someone for camera or to supervise the script as we ran through everybody's lines, and of course to play all the various roles we needed filled out just like always.
Kip was another great addition to the crew, going from what originally was just going to be one small cameo to playing multiple characters (including a very special vengeance filled one) and learning how to run sound or helping with anything else we needed.
In addition to them of course every other main cast member hopped around just as much as those who were more crew oriented, and of course just did outstanding jobs with their roles - easily getting back into character and it's just so much fun watching them play these characters in new ways with their new status quo's in Bacon. Emily of course had her first appearance in this first episode, but I won't say too much about John with fear of Woody strangling me over spoilers. But hey, he was in the trailer! And I could watch Julio play Governor Brekvist for hours and it would never get old. I was so excited when they agreed to be apart of the project and they've made Brekvist one of my favorite Buddy Cops characters just with their performance alone. We mention it all the time behind the scenes, but Julio came up with the accent for Brekvist unprompted, they showed up on set during Buddy Cops 3 and pulled it out and we were like "this is perfect!".
Just to finish up these little thanks that I think I'm doing for the second time (but the last Report was a bit ago so I can allow myself) I want to thank everyone else who had the littlest parts in the project like Carlota, Kaitlyn, Jay, Sarah, Sammie, and anybody else that I'm currently forgetting. And the biggest thanks and biggest credit to Mr. Woody Hamilton for spearheading this grand project! Woody had been working on a Buddy Cops spinoff since the end of Buddy Cops 3, and watching it slowly evolve into the final project has honestly been incredibly cool and inspiring. Taking up the sole role of Director as opposed to us being Co-Directors like normal due to my schedule, Woody did an incredible job being the glue to making this huge project work. We had our moments of head clashing but honestly, I think he did a great job and it'll be sad not having him up here in New York to work on projects as frequently as before now. Either way, I'm honored to get to work on all of these things with him (despite the fact I don't let him know - so Woody if you're reading this, earmuffs, okay?)
Picture
So, Bacon is officially wrapped up and coming out - what's next for DarkTriforceFilms now? Bacon still has 4 more episodes to come out and those will be releasing every Sunday for the next few weeks, so expect Episode 2 on 10/23, Episode 3 on 10/30, Episode 4 on 11/6, and the finale will be out on 11/13. This hopefully won't be the only content that'll be coming to the channel during the fall however - if you look back at the old editions of The Report, you know we have multiple videos we filmed over the summer that took a backseat as we started production on Bacon, and hopefully HOPEFULLY those will be coming out soon now that I have the time to edit anything else - however, right at the tail end of editing Bacon, the hard drive that I use and keep everything on went the way of Bacon's wife (it died), and I've been trying some data recovery methods but as of right now it's looking like a lot of DarkTriforceFilms content was unfortunately lost. For these videos however, I should hopefully still have all of the footage for the videos on the SD card they were filmed on, along with the audio that was recorded separately should still be on an SD card that Woody has. So right now it's uncertain but should everything go according to plan, these videos should still exist no matter what! GOD I HOPE SO!
Along with that we have one or two DT Life's to edit (one of which features the world famous TYMOSO in person!), along with the Behind The Scenes for Bacon, and some other bits and pieces we can pull together for something. It's nice to have content ready and be uploading regularly again and I really hope that these videos aren't lost so our pool doesn't drop down.
Picture
That's about all there is to cover in this edition of The DarkTriforceReport, so let's look forward to the fall season of DarkTriforceFilms content! Most of the images in today's Report are all stills from The first episode of BACON, so if you want to know more, head on over to the YouTube channel and get caught up (it'll hopefully be up here on the website soon as well!) The last photo seen above is the thumbnail to the official trailer, so make sure to check that out as well as Woody's teaser trailer on his channel.
And in some DarkTriforceFilms adjacent news, keeping in theme with fall content, Tales From Summer Camp is having a show on November 3rd at Sheeptown! If you're interested, check out Tales From Summer Camp on instagram for more information! Nothing's set in stone just yet, but hopefully there'll be a video posted somewhere in the vein of the one from our Troy Speakeasy set.
Hopefully now that we aren't heads down anymore, The DarkTriforceReport here will become a bit more frequent, maybe even weekly again! Not that anybody reads these, but you gotta fake it 'til you make it, you know? And you know what - if you are reading this and made it all the way down here, leave a comment/reply to this (by clicking the "comments" button right at the top of this article and I'll send you a free DarkTriforceFilms T-shirt*.
But, until then, this is Logan, signing off!

And that's a wrap

This week- er, month in DarkTriforceFilms, we have officially wrapped on "principle photography" for BACON! (and that is why this is a special Monday edition of The Report!) After a month of balancing schedules, driving from location to location, hot dogs, and repeating bits, we have officially finished filming the next installment in the Buddy Cops universe! It was one of our biggest projects yet, probably coming in right after Buddy Cops 3, and it was a ton of fun to do! To start, I have to give a big shoutout to Woody who was the lead of the entire thing, even down to originally having the idea for what the series would be! Due to the ol' day job, I wasn't able to be on set as much as I'd like, so Woody did a lot of the directing and general organization for Bacon, and he did a great job! Even with the days we were behind schedule or had to switch up what was being filmed due to people not being able to make it, we still managed to wrap everything up on the scheduled last day.
And following that, another big thanks to the star himself, Cameron Kaercher, our Chief Bahcon, for being so great to work with in everything we ever have him in! Chief Bahcon wouldn't be the character he is without Cameron, and without that this series would've never have happened! Alongside Cameron, we had of course all of our returning cast, John as Anonymous, Emily as Kyra, Julio as Governor Brekvist, and of course Charles and Alexis filling out the universe as a variety of extras, and this doesn't even cover the people who weren't there for photos like Kip, Carlota, and more! Big thanks to everyone for coming back and being just as excited to continue this story as we were!
We also had new additions to the Buddy Cops universe, and just to DarkTriforceFilms in general as well! That includes Heath, who plays the late Jules Bahcon, and Hunter, who plays a character I won't name in fear of Woody yelling at me for spoilers! Both of them were great in their respective roles, and fit in very quickly on the set of a DarkTriforceFilms production. We got both Heath and Hunter on the production after our first ever audition process which I believe I talked about slightly in one of the other editions of The Report - Bacon was full of new things for us, and that was the first of them. We posted a listing on the website Backstage, and went through a small process and I think we ended up with the best versions of the characters we could've gotten by casting Heath and Hunter!
Most days on Bacon were full days, filming from early morning to night - to the point where with everyone's schedules we'd practically have a day shift and a night shift team, and much like most DarkTriforceFilms productions, everybody was doing every job. Especially the TASCAM we use to record sound was passed around I think between every one of us at one point or another. Even some people like Nola who weren't involved with the project in any way other than being nearby when we were filming!
Continuing mine and Woody's want to have more varied filming locations this year, Bacon was filmed all over the place, thank you to everyone who lended their homes, apartments, or backyards to us - and Cafe Deli-icous and The Open Book for letting us film in their businesses for a couple of scenes as well.
Following production, it's time for Woody and I to put our heads down and get to editing - looking for a Fall release for the series, and of course soon enough there'll be trailers up, most likely one by me and one by Woody like we've done for BC2 and BC3. But for now, we're gonna take just the slightest bit of time to get some rest and relaxation. We had the wrap party for Bacon just a few hours after the end of shooting, and it was a great way to celebrate actually getting this crazy project done. I don't think I mentioned it before, but through all 5 episodes of the series, our script totaled just a couple pages over 100, so I'm sure you can imagine what the workload was like as we were chugging our way through this, which is what the delay of the other videos we had been shooting this year and talking about in the previous editions of The Report was from. So expect just a big slate of DarkTriforceFilms content this fall - while we weren't originally intending it all to end up there, I'll be more than happy as long as everything is able to come out at all!
This special edition of The DarkTriforceReport will pretty much wrap up here,  just wanted to update on where we've been the past month and what to look forward to in the future! I would've given more details on what it was like on set or other little jokes and stories, but just like with Buddy Cops 3, we'll have a Bacon BTS video coming out (again edited by the wonderful Alexis Ebanks), and that'll do the job much better than I can with my little memory and sporadic times on set. Expect some trailers soon and then we'll wait anxiously for the official premiere of BACON and the other DarkTriforceFilms videos that will follow it this year. So until then, this is Logan, signing off!

This week in DarkTriforceFilms, I was out sick. As we finally started production for the very anticipated BACON series, we had to change up the schedule after our first day on Sunday. I was exposed to COVID after Kristina tested positive, so to be safe I stayed in for the week (I haven't tested positive yet though, so silver linings). On Sunday filming started around 9 AM but I wasn't able to get there until 4:30 PM because of the ol ball and chain that is my day job.
The morning crew had Woody, Cameron, John, Charles, and Alexis and from what I heard everything went according to plan and for once DarkTriforceFilms was able to finish something on schedule! Closer to when I arrived they were also joined by Emily (who plays Kyra) and Hunter (who was casted to be our Mystery character)! And at 4:30 we all united at John's apartment, which for some behind the scenes - was the first time any of us had ever been in a place that John lived. We're shooting the webseries all jumbled up, so the morning had them filming most of Episode 3, and the afternoon had us filming scenes for Episode 5. And while we were a little bit later than I'm sure Woody would've wanted, we finished as much as we could until we were eventually stopped by a storm that was rolling in as we were filming a scene outside.
We were also offered weed by someone while filming that same scene, I think of it as a good luck charm for the rest of shooting. We had a few more days that we were supposed to shoot on this week but ultimately got moved while I was staying in for safety, but on Saturday Woody got a crew together to film some stuff for Episode 1 (I think it's episode 1, he'll correct me later).
I wasn't there so I can't report much of what happened, I'd ask Woody but it's about 6 AM while I'm writing this so I don't think he's up. He sent me a few photos to post about Bacon, but they're all kind of the same photo.

Other than that, this has been the slowest week we've had in a bit so I don't have much to say. If you want another Narrator update, it's basically done but we're going to have to do some ADR because the last few clips the wind where we were filming picks up A LOT and completely blows out the mic, making it impossible to hear anything that's being said. So that video is getting a bit of a delay! With that waiting I'll move on to most likely The Intervention, or possibly starting to edit down some old Bedpit episodes. We'll most likely be back on Twitch soon, and I'd like to run a DTV on there sometime too. I feel like there was something else I had to mention but I can not for the life of me remember what it was.  So, neither will you I guess!
Well, I sat on this for a couple hours and couldn't remember anything else, so Woody if you're reading this and have anything to add, let me now and I'll add it below here. Until then however, this is Logan, signing off!
